2016 IDITAROD – 44th Annual Race

WILLOW LAKE, AK – 85 Mushers left for Nome, AK., on March 6. Bib #2 left at 2 pm AKST and every 2 minutes another Musher leaves the chute. Bib #1 is reserved for the honorary Musher. Three-time & reigning Champion Dallas Seavey is Bib #16, so please watch this number!

Dallas called on Friday and said he’s in great spirits and had a very productive training season. He states that this Team of 16 athletes is the best Team he has had the privilege to drive to Nome. Can he break his own record?

Most sources have picked Dallas as the favorite and is the Team to beat. He was the youngest Champion ever in 2012 at age 25 and has WON three of the past four years.

Competitors include 26 females, 17 rookies, 7 prior champions. 8 from Norway, 3 Canada, 1 Sweden & 1 United Kingdom.

There are rumors of some trail issues in the Alaskan Range, so time will tell how this affects the race. Weather is always a factor to some degree.

This is an even year (2016) so the race is run on the northern route trail.

This International Sled Dog Race know as “THE LAST GREAT RACE ON EARTH” will be full of adventure and surprises.

Please stay tuned.
